I’ve been an Indy fan since I could understand what I was watching. The last Indy I seen on the Silver Screen was the Last Crusade. Only fitting that I get to see Crystal Skull as well. Let me also disclose that I’ve seen every Indy adventure, even the Adventures of Young Indy.
The movie picks up in 1957 with some military action. Unfortunately most people are not going to understand this movie. Trust me, take your grandparents with you. They will understand the movie and explain it to you for the next month or so. Obviously the Nazis are out, this is the late 50′s… so… of course, it’s the USSR. The movie is perfect for the time period. …and now come the spoilers…
ALIENS! Holy cow… there were aliens in an Indy film. I was a little surprised, but Spielberg made it work. This, of course, is not his first Indy film OR his first alien film. I was impressed and loved it. The ark did make a return appearance, although brief. This is as we discover that the warehouse at the end of Raiders was actually Area 51. Amazing. At the end of the night I felt a little strange, but upon thinking it over, everything seemed to be the most logical progression. Now go out and see this movie now.
But seriously, take your grandparents, they would appreciate you and this movie.
